Things to Do in Apache Junction

One of the great benefits to living in and visiting Apache Junction is the tremendous beauty that surrounds you. There are numerous beautiful locales to visit and spend some time in and around Apache Junction.

Apache Trail is one of the most beautiful sights that you will find in the Arizona area. It was originally constructed as a stagecoach trail, a testament to Arizona’s western background. Although much of the trail is actually paved today, it still offers some of the best opportunities to gaze upon the beautiful scenery surrounding Apache Junction that you could possibly find. View deep reservoir lakes and rugged desert mountains from Apache Trail.

Tortilla Flats is another highly popular area near Apache Junction. This authentic remnant of an actual old west town will certainly leave you entertained as well as help you to learn more about the history of this fascinating area. Once a stage stop, today Tortilla Flats welcomes visitors from all over the country. Walk down Main Street, enjoy a drink at the Superstition Saloon or sit down for dinner at the restaurant.   For another old time experiece visit the Goldfield Gold Town and take a tour of one of their old mines.

There are numerous places in and near Apache Junction where you can enjoy the great outdoors. Gold Canyon Golf Resort is world known for their lodging, restaurant, spa and, of course, their golf.  Another place to enjoy the outdoors is Canyon Lake. This man-made reservoir is nothing short of a wonder. It was created by damming the Salt River and covers some 950 acres. Today it is one of the most popular water areas in the entire state of Arizona. It is located about 15 miles from Apache Junction and is about 51 miles east from Phoenix. The area is home to a variety of recreational activities and amenities, including camping, boating and hiking trails. There are also historic sightseeing tours available as well, aboard Dolly Steamboat, which is a great way to see more of the local area and enjoy a relaxing afternoon or evening on the water.
