Do you have any ideas on what types of wedding flowers you should use for the upcoming event? Be careful about making any final selections until you consider the standard “definition” of each popular color. While it is encouraged that you choose the colors closest to your heart, to many other couples, certain colors represent aspects of the relationship or characteristics of the bride and groom.

For example, pink wedding flowers are considered visually pleasing, and roses, tulips and peonies in pink do look nice. However, these flowers can sometimes paint a splashy and youthful image of a wedding. Red is sometimes seen as the more mature selection, as the rose represents a certain ageless passion, ideal for any wedding. Popular red flowers include roses, lilies and geraniums.

White colors are traditional and typically represent purity and innocence. This is a great color for Christian weddings, young lover’s weddings and any relationship that can be considered exceptionally innocent and chivalrous. Popular choices for white flowers include magnolias, gardenias and white carnations. Yellow flowers are a joyous selection and recall the yellow shine of the sun. Yellow is definitely the “happy” color, and looks exceptional when you use orchids, lilies and peonies.

Green is seen as a peaceful color and one very attune with nature, contentment and freedom, so this is certainly a flower that matches some couples. Purple represents royalty and spirituality, and adds a certain class to a wedding ceremony. Last but not least, there is blue. This flower symbolizes peace, artistry and a feeling of calm. Blue is also seen as a modern color, and may be considered a youthful color for wedding themes. Blue flowers to consider include irises, hydrangeas and tulips.

What wedding flowers will you choose? Extra glamorous brides tend to be drawn to purple, white and ivory, particularly tulips and French anemones. Romantic partners like roses and peonies, particularly when red roses are mixed with white and pink ones. If you like the vintage or classical look, then choose lilacs and calla lilies, with their lush silky tones. For the truly avant-garde minded, opt for foliage, herbs and berries along with your choice of color. Lastly, if you want to keep things casual and fun, think about dahlias and narcissus. Some brides even take their wedding to the sea, and opt for seashell decorations.

It’s all about the expression of love between a man and a woman—unique, personal and colorful as ever.
